1. Overture.
Congratulations! You made it past April
fool's day!
Any interesting April fool's stories to share with
us?
Thanks to the brave ones who entered the
competition.
If you have entered, enter again; if you didn't please do so
now!
Just to let you South African readers know:
a New Zealand subscriber
is kicking dust in the faces of many South African
subscribers in my
competition. Are you going to let him get away with
it?
Seeing as it's school holidays now I was
going to include a fun
activity in the intermission section of this
edition.
Things are rapidly changing here, so that I
had to hold the
fun activity back till next week's edition, in order to
explain what's
happening in my life, as it could have a profound and
positive effect on your life too.
Please read my article, "A gift for life,
from me", in the "intermission" section
in which I explain what, where,
when, who and how!
This week I made contact with an overseas
pianist. His name
is John Thomas.
I like his music and the two
of us are swapping
albums with each other.
I hope to be able to
let you listen to some of his music soon.
2. "New soul".
Doesn't it remind you of some of the old
songs, of the early '70's
like "Zanzibar" and "Brand-new key?
This week I'm going to give you a glimpse
of some of the things I have
planned for future issues of the
newsletter.
I suggest you read my article in the
Intermission section to
get a broader picture of where I'm
heading.
I'm always happy to consider your ideas -
please let me have them.
- Musical term explained:
Crescendo
Crescendo, from Italian meaning "growing",
is an indication that the
music, from the point where the indication
appears, should be played
louder and louder.
- Unsubscribe link
Another new feature is the unsubscribe
link.
There is now an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every
newsletter.
It reminds me of when we were children. We
used to go
riding up and down in lifts, often to the disgruntlement of the
residents.
I tested the unsubscribe link. It really
does work, so you don't need to test it,
but if you really want to
unsubscribe, click on the link provided
at the bottom of every newsletter
from now on.
- Competition
Entries close on 29 April, so get those
entries
in, South Africa!
It's free to enter and you can enter as
many times as you like.
Feel free to tell others about the competition
too.
Hint: there are 3 questions to answer for
the competition of which
the answers to the first 2 questions can be found
on a webpage
directly off my home page at:
http://www.mr-music.co.za
The answer to the third question is a number you must guess.
For more details, and/or to enter, click on
the link below to go to my website, and once there, scroll down to the heading
"Competition":

- New album
On its way
...
- New compositions
I have to keep the juices flowing, so I
composed one new
song this week.
My latest song is called
"Floating", and you will probably hear it on
my next Soothing Ivories
album.
My tally for own compositions now stand at
27.
- Looking ahead
I said I would
give you a glimpse of some of the
improvements I have planned for my site
and the newsletter.
Interested in having some of my songs as
ring tones?
Want sheet music?
How about interviews with pianists in audio
and/or print format?
And you don't have to pay a cent towards
any of these!
- Animal Zone - Easter story
The "mahala" story, "Show 'em", is
not up yet as my focus currently
is on getting the Easter story on the
site.
"The fugitive" will be ready for you to read on Wednesday 8
April.
To read it, go to:
http://www.mr-music.co.za/animalzone/
Please use the link at the bottom of the
story page itself
to order or to pass your comments directly to
Ellen.
- Music for functions
You know by now that you can contact me to
provide any kind of
music, for any type of function.
Near or
far, for 2 or 200, at dusk or dawn:
I will come and add my magic touch to
turn your event into
something memorable.
Not to mention the
publicity you'll get via my site and newsletter!
You know the drill by now: just e-mail me
with details,
I will respond with a written quote, then we'll take things
from there.
So just e-mail me at:
david@mr-music.co.za
3. Intermission.
A gift for life, from me
By David
Fritz
With us being in another holiday season I wanted to include a
fun
activity in this section of the newsletter, however, that will have to
wait
till next week's edition.
I would like to explain
something to you regarding my music so that you can
understand where I'm
going, and prepare yourself for the positive
impact you can experience as a
result.
When I was a child, I wanted to become a
doctor. My picture
of a doctor was not of a prescription-writing, desk-bound
person, but rather that
of someone healing by performing life-saving
surgery, e.g. heart transplants.
Due to my sight problem becoming a surgeon,
for example, was ruled out, until now!
I have long been aware of
the healing properties of music, such as
the story that is recorded in the
Bible too (I Samuel 16:23), where David
played music to counteract extreme
fits of rage suffered by king Saul.
There are many other uses for music in
healing, many dating back thousands
of years.
Until last year, I always played music
solely for
the entertainment value it provided.
Last year, for
the first time, I composed and recorded music for
its soothing properties,
when I composed and recorded Soothing Ivories volume 1.
But since December last year I started
making a study of the use of music in healing
with the view to becoming a
specialist in the field.
As you can see, I now compose actively,
and more and more of the music
on my CD's will be my own
compositions.
Although I will make some easy-listening
CD's, such as my Ivories
in Love and Singing ivories, I will spend more and
more time in
creating healing music CD's, and doing therapy sessions for
those with health challenges.
How does this effect you?
Positively, and in several
ways.
- More good music: my own, of
course
In 2005 I only recorded one of my own compositions.
In
2006 and 2007 I recorded two per year.
Last year I recorded twelve of my own
numbers on Soothing Ivories volume 1.
This year I plan to record
three albums: one to be released
on 1 May with one of my own numbers on it,
another Soothing Ivories album with at least twelve of my own compositions,
and
another Singing ivories album with at least five of my own numbers, thus
recording
more of my own compositions in one year than in the previous four
years combined.
- Free albums for my
subscribers
Mr Music has decided ...
I
will provide the best music, my own healing music, free of charge
in MP3
format to my subscribers.
Yes, that means you won't ever have to
pay for Soothing
Ivories, or any of my other healing music!
The commercial music albums will still be
priced as per normal and
so will CD copies of my Soothing Ivories and other
healing music,
but Soothing Ivories and healing music will be provided in
MP3 format,
totally free, to you.
This is my way of showing my gratitude for
all I have and am
in life. I am saying THANK YOU by providing music to
make people healthy and happy, with no strings attached, so that everyone
can
afford it.
I must say that I don't know of many other
artists who have
made such a bold claim. Do You?
All that remains is for the details to be
revealed.
Just watch this space in the months to come!
4. "Always on my
mind".
Another old favourite to introduce this
section of my newsletter today.
"Always on my mind" has been sung by so
many artists, but I think the
rendition by Chris de Burgh must be one of the
best.
Thank you to all those who have made
positive comments about the suggestions. May you have lots of fun doing
them.
Make this another memorable week by diarizing and
doing
as suggested below:
- DATES TO DIARIZE
- 3-5 April - Herb Happening, Doonholm herb
farm, 264 Summit Road
R526), Midrand
- 16 May - National Eisteddfod
Academy Awards finals
- THINGS TO DO THIS WEEK
- Eat
dark chocolate
- Rent the movie "Born free"
- Give an Easter egg to
someone (not family or a colleague)
- Clean out the medicine chest - throw
expired items away
- Loan a book of poetry from your local library and read,
read, read...
5. Encore
The house of a thousand
mirrors
Many years ago, in a beautiful Japanese
village, there was a House of
1000 mirrors. A happy, little dog was
intrigued by this place and
decided to visit.
On his arrival, he scampered up to the
house excitedly and entered a room.
His ears lifted up and his tail started
wagging. To his surprise, he found himself
staring at 1000 other happy little
dogs with their tails wagging excitedly just like
his. He smiled, and 1000
other happy little dogs smiled back.
As he left, he thought to himself:
"This
is a wonderful place. I will come back and visit often."
Shortly after, another little dog visited
the house, but he was not quite as happy
as the first one.
He slowly entered the room, looking
miserable with his head hung low. When he saw
1000 unfriendly looking dogs
staring back at him, he showed his teeth and started
to growl. What he saw
was 1000 unhappy little dogs growling fiercely back at him.
As he left, he thought to himself:
"That
is a horrible place, and I will never go back there again."
...
Today I'm feeling particularly sentimental.
I miss mama Cass,
from The Mamas and Papas.
With damp eyes
I'll say goodbye then with the song "Dream a
little dream of me", sung by
her:
May this week be your best
ever.
"Stars shining bright above you;
night
breezes seem to whisper 'I love you';
birds singing in the sycamore
tree;
dream a little dream of me.
Say nighty-night and kiss me;
just hold
me tight and tell me you'll miss me;
while I'm alone, blue as can
be;
dream a little dream of me.
Stars fading but I linger on,
dear;
still craving your kiss;
I'm longing to linger till dawn,
dear;
just saying this...
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find
you;
sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you;
but in your dreams,
whatever they be;
dream a little dream of me.
Stars fading but I linger on,
dear;
still craving your kiss;
I'm longing to linger till dawn,
dear;
just saying this...
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find
you;
sweet dreams that leave all worries far behind you;
but in your
dreams, whatever they be;
dream a little dream of me."
